Digital Coffee Talk 8 - Making your own solo performance - from an autobiographical material to the universal story
In this Coffee talk, Karolina Spaic, director and stage director of ZID Theater (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), analyses the process of creating a solo performance that is based on the autobiographical material of the performer and at the same time becomes universal in order to communicate with the audience.
WHEN: 17 March, 2023 at 14.00 CET
WHERE: link to Zoom
Where to start, what steps to take and what awaits the performer-creator in this work process and personal journey are important steps in this process. Karolina will take you through these stages of the creative process and give you an insight into how you can start working on a solo show.
Based on her experience and having worked in the theatre for more than thirty years, Spaic directed and artistically advised many actors on their way to a solo performance. Performances like Vincent & I by Sebo Bakker, Milkwhite by Tamara Rosso, Rebel by Naima Baraka, among others, were created, which were played all over Europe and in the USA.
Join ExploreZ festival in May with you performance
ZID Theater also has an offer for participants: anyone who wants to start working on a solo show and sends us a good idea by the end of March can come to the ExploreZ festival in Amsterdam in May 2023 as an artist in residency and show their work in progress. And this performance can participate in the festival next year, just like the other artists from this coffee talk.
For requests to join explore festival 2023, send an email and information about your work in progress to Valia at Communicatie@zidtheater.nl
